    The role:

    As a WA Redress Counsellor, you will provide culturally safe, trauma-informed support that empowers clients on their healing journey through the Western Australian Redress Scheme.

    In this vital position based in Hedland, you will deliver one-on-one and group support to Survivors engaging with the WA Redress Scheme, assisting with application processes and advocating on their behalf. You will create a respectful and safe space for clients, acknowledging the impacts of colonisation and intergenerational trauma.

    Your work will include outreach to regional communities, building strong relationships with clients, Elders, and relevant services to ensure comprehensive support and referral pathways.


    Requirements:

    • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Diploma in Counselling, or relevant Human Services experience
    • Strong understanding of trauma, colonisation, and cultural safety principles
    • Experience in counselling, case management, advocacy, or community support roles
    • Excellent organisational skills and ability to maintain confidential records
    • Strong communication skills with ability to build trusted relationships
    • Willingness and ability to travel throughout WA (excluding Kimberleys)
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office and database applications
    • Valid WA Driver’s License, National Police Certificate (within 6 months), and Working with Children Check
