As a Social Worker, you will collaboratively engage with families, professionals, and community members to enhance the safety and wellbeing of children and young people. Your role will encompass early intervention, targeted support for vulnerable families, and statutory child protection services under the Child Welfare Act 2009 (NI). You will coordinate case management, support community carers, and deliver capacity-building programs that empower families and children to reach their full potential.
Working within a dynamic, evolving community setting, your culturally sensitive approach will foster strong professional relationships and effective interagency collaboration. You'll also actively promote community awareness on child and family wellbeing, helping shape a responsive, evidence-based service system.
Requirements:
- Recognised Social Work qualification (AASW validation required if obtained overseas)
- Minimum 2 years post-qualification experience in child and family social work with child protection focus
- Demonstrated skills in assessment, evidence-based interventions, and case management
- Knowledge of the Child Welfare Act 2009 (NI) and child protection procedures
- Ability to work effectively within a remote, socio-culturally unique community context
- Strong communication, organisational, and IT skills (Microsoft Office proficiency)
- Full current Australian driver’s licence and willingness to obtain Norfolk Island licence
- Flexibility to work outside standard hours, including participation in an on-call roster and occasional travel
