- You could be based in Darwin OR Nhulunbuy - however will be required to travel to remote communities across the Arnhem region
The Role
Lead and coordinate community capacity-building projects focused on suicide prevention and aftercare, and coordinate initiatives to strengthen local skills in responding to mental health challenges.
You will collaborate with community members, stakeholders, and organisations to develop sustainable programs while mentoring and supporting SEWB Community Workers in remote communities.
You can be based in Darwin or Nhulunbuy, but will regularly travel to remote communities. Requirements :
- Relevant Bachelor's Degree - Human Services related field eg Social Work
- Experience in mentoring Aboriginal staff
- Commitment to Aboriginal Community Control
- Understanding of challenges faced by remote Indigenous communities
- Vaccinated to meet company requirements - Covid, Hep B
- Ability to drive a manual 4WD
- Ability to supervise a team in a remote setting
Desirable
- Ability to communicate an Aboriginal language and/or knowledge of traditional kinship systems in the region
