The Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Youth Access Clinician to join the headspace service in Broken Hill.
headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation supporting young people aged 12–25 with their mental and general health needs. This role will focus on early intervention, assessment, and recovery-focused care for young people and their families/carers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering evidence-based, recovery-focused mental health services including comprehensive assessments, care planning and therapeutic interventions
- Designing and implementing tailored treatment plans that empower young people to drive their recovery
- Conducting risk assessments, crisis intervention and safety planning
- Coordinating supports with GPs, medical professionals, government departments, NGOs and schools
- Providing supervision, mentoring and support to students and junior clinicians
- Ensuring compliance with AHPRA and relevant professional bodies
- Facilitating community-based initiatives that enhance social and emotional wellbeing
- Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver integrated, youth-friendly services
Criteria
- Minimum 2 years post-qualification experience delivering mental health assessments and evidence-based interventions
- One of the following:
- Clinical or Registered Psychologist with full, unrestricted AHPRA registration
- Occupational Therapist with full AHPRA registration and mental health accreditation (or eligibility) with OTA
- Social Worker with approved qualification and eligibility for mental health endorsement with AASW
- Division 1 Mental Health Nurse with relevant postgraduate qualifications or significant mental health experience
- Mental Health Counsellor or Psychotherapist meeting Level 3 (or above) ACA Scope of Practice and registered with ACA, PACFA or equivalent
- Demonstrated experience conducting risk assessments, crisis interventions and care planning with young people and families
- Strong understanding of recovery-oriented and family-inclusive practice
- Experience working with young people from diverse backgrounds
- Demonstrated mentoring and coaching capability
- High-level computer literacy including report writing and electronic client management systems
- Fully registered/accredited clinicians only (no provisional registrations for this role)
