Our client is seeking a Payroll Officer to join their supportive team on a 12-month full-time fixed-term contract based in Roxburgh Park, VIC. The Role:
The Payroll Officer plays a key role in ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll services across multiple entities within the organisation. Working closely with the Finance Manager, this role supports day-to-day payroll operations and contributes to the smooth financial performance of the business.
Key responsibilities include:
- Processing end-to-end payroll accurately and on time for all staff across multiple business units
- Calculating salaries, allowances, overtime, bonuses, deductions, and superannuation
- Maintaining and updating payroll and employee records, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and award conditions
- Preparing and submitting payroll-related tax filings and reports (including PAYG, superannuation, and other deductions)
- Assisting with reconciliations, audits, and budget preparation by providing payroll analysis and cost forecasts
- Managing employee payroll queries and providing responsive, accurate support
- Supporting financial reporting, invoicing, and inter-company transactions as required
- Contributing to compliance across Aged Care, NDIS, and WHS frameworks
Requirements:
- Proven experience in end-to-end payroll processing
- Certificate IV in Bookkeeping, Diploma in Accounting, or related qualification (Bachelor’s in Accounting desirable)
- Strong understanding of payroll legislation, taxation, and industrial awards
- Hands-on experience with accounting software (preferably Xero, Employment Hero, and Excel functions such as VLOOKUPs)
- Excellent attention to detail, organisation, and confidentiality
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to support and collaborate within a busy finance team
- Current Police Check, Working with Children Check, and NDIS Worker Screening (or willingness to obtain)
- Full Australian working rights and a minimum of two COVID-19 vaccinations
