The Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Clinician (Youth Access Clinician) to join the headspace service in Broken Hill on a parental leave contract through to January 2027.
headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation supporting young people aged 12–25 with their mental and general health needs, providing early intervention and holistic care under one roof.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering evidence-based, recovery-focused mental health services including assessments, person-centred care planning and therapeutic interventions
- Designing and implementing tailored treatment plans that empower young people in their recovery
- Coordinating care with GPs, medical professionals, government services, NGOs and schools
- Conducting risk assessments and supporting young people and families/carers through appropriate interventions
- Providing support, guidance and mentoring to students
- Delivering education and guidance on clinical matters
- Developing and implementing community-based initiatives that promote social and emotional wellbeing
- Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure integrated, youth-friendly service delivery
Criteria
- Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, Occupational Therapy or other recognised allied health discipline
- Eligibility for membership/registration with the relevant professional body (e.g. AHPRA, AASW, OTA or equivalent)
- Demonstrated understanding of factors impacting the mental, physical, social and emotional wellbeing of young people aged 12–25 and their families
- Strong knowledge of recovery-focused practice and the impact of mental health within the community
- Ability to engage effectively with young people from diverse backgrounds
- Strong communication, assessment and care coordination skills
- Competent computer literacy including report writing and electronic client management systems
