The role:

As a Family Support Practitioner, you will work closely with families facing trauma and challenges, providing therapeutic and intensive support within the context of extended kinship networks. You will collaborate with Aboriginal Family Wellness Workers to deliver culturally safe, trauma-informed services that promote individual and collective agency. This role involves managing casework effectively, helping families navigate systems and access services, while maintaining respectful documentation and data reporting in line with service requirements.

You will attend key stakeholder and interagency meetings to advocate for family needs, contribute to reflective practice, and support the ongoing development of a culturally resonant model of family wellbeing.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in social work & AASW registration
  • Experience supporting children and families affected by trauma and child protection risks
  • Proven case management and administrative skills
  • Ability to work respectfully alongside Aboriginal communities in remote settings
  • Current driver’s license, NT Working with Children Clearance, Ochre card, and satisfactory Criminal History Check
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office
