The Domestic Violence Specialist Worker will provide crisis and case management support to women and families experiencing domestic and family violence. Acting as a first point of contact, you will deliver trauma-informed, client-centred support to women and their children, assisting them to navigate immediate safety concerns while coordinating longer-term pathways to stability and recovery.
In this role, you will conduct comprehensive risk assessments and develop tailored safety plans while supporting clients with Domestic Violence Protection Order applications. You will provide crisis intervention and safety-focused case management, coordinating access to crisis and transitional accommodation as required. The position also involves facilitating referrals to counselling, legal, health, mental health and community services, and advocating for clients across housing, financial support, education and child-related services.
You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary care team, participating in case conferences and stakeholder meetings to ensure integrated service delivery. The role includes undertaking outreach support, including offsite visits, and maintaining accurate case notes, reports and documentation in line with organisational and compliance requirements.
Essential Criteria:- Relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Community Services or related field (or working towards), or demonstrated equivalent sector experience
- Proven experience supporting women and children impacted by domestic and family violence and/or sexual assault
- Experience conducting risk assessments and safety planning
- Strong case management and service coordination capability
- Demonstrated ability to provide trauma-informed, client-centred care
- Experience advocating and liaising with housing, legal, health and community services
- Ability to manage critical incidents and respond to immediate safety risks
- Confident in conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage complex caseloads
- Current Driver’s Licence
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Working With Children Check and National Police Check
