The Role:

This is an opportunity to join a specialist service providing trauma-informed counselling to children, young people, and adults impacted by sexual violence . You will deliver therapeutic case management and counselling across a diverse client group, including those experiencing complex trauma and harmful sexual behaviours. The role involves working both from office locations and through outreach to improve accessibility for service users. You will provide holistic support, including psychoeducation, advocacy, safety planning, and referrals to external services such as legal and medical systems. Collaboration is central, working alongside a multidisciplinary team and external stakeholders to ensure integrated care. You will maintain accurate case notes and meet reporting requirements in line with organisational and legislative standards. The role also contributes to prevention through community education and awareness initiatives. This position requires a compassionate, ethical practitioner who can work both autonomously and within a team.

Essential Criteria:

  • Tertiary qualification (Bachelor’s or higher) in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or related field
  • Experience in trauma-informed counselling
  • Demonstrated experience working with children, young people, and adults
  • Strong skills in crisis intervention and working with complex trauma presentations
  • Understanding of diverse communities, including experience working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, ethical practice, and mandatory reporting requirements
  • Ability to build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships
  • High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and boundary management
  • Strong organisational, time management, and administrative skills
  • Current driver’s licence
  • Valid Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
