The Role
As a Behaviour Support Practitioner, you will play a vital role in supporting children, adolescents, and young adults with disabilities and complex needs. Working within a respected Newcastle-based practice, you will develop and implement tailored behaviour support plans that promote positive outcomes and enhance quality of life.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify the underlying causes of behaviours of concern
- Design and deliver behaviour support plans in line with NDIS requirements
- Implement positive behaviour support strategies through direct intervention
- Educate and guide families, caregivers, and staff to foster effective support environments
- Track progress and make informed adjustments using data and observation
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary professionals to support holistic care
- Respond to crises using evidence-based de-escalation techniques
- Maintain detailed documentation to ensure compliance and quality standards
- Stay current with best practices and emerging trends in behaviour support
- Advocate for individuals’ rights and meaningful participation in the community
Requirements
- Current registration as a Behaviour Support Practitioner.
- A Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, special education, or a related field.
- Proven experience delivering behaviour support plans, ideally with children and young people. Preferably 2 years experience.
- Strong understanding of NDIS behaviour support guidelines.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently when required.
- Commitment to cultural sensitivity, inclusion, and person-centred practice.
