The Role:

The Mental Health Clinician will be a key member of the Wagga Wagga-based mental health service, providing immediate, short to medium-term support for people experiencing crisis, distress, or moderate to severe mental health needs. You will work collaboratively with consumers and their families/carers to conduct biopsychosocial assessments, develop care plans, provide evidence-based psychological strategies, and coordinate care with other services. This role also involves welcoming and engaging service users, facilitating warm referrals, assertive follow-up for at-risk clients, and maintaining accurate clinical records. You will participate in case reviews, liaise with GPs and external providers, contribute to data reporting, and work flexibly across a seven-day roster.
 

Essential Criteria:

  • Current full or working towards AHPRA registration as a clinical psychologist, registered psychologist, or occupational therapist (meeting Australian Competency Standards in mental health) OR accreditation with the AASW as a mental health social worker (or working toward)
  • Demonstrated ability to engage consumers and families/carers in assessment, care planning, coordination, and referral support
  • Proven skills in providing holistic, evidence-based therapeutic interventions
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently
  • Understanding of key issues affecting people with mental health and/or substance use concerns
  • High computer literacy and ability to use clinical software systems
  • Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel, with flexibility to work outside standard hours
