The Role:
Join a leading Newcastle based practice and make a meaningful difference in the lives of families with children facing disabilities and additional personal needs. As a Behavioural Support Practitioner, you will work closely with adolescents and young adults and you will be instrumental in implementing personalized behaviour support plans to improve the well-being and quality of life for these children and teens. Your role will not only positively impact families but also contribute to creating a more inclusive and supportive community.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct thorough assessments to understand challenging behaviours.
  2. Develop individualized behaviour support plans aligned with NDIS guidelines.
  3. Provide direct intervention and support using positive behaviour strategies.
  4. Offer guidance and training to families, caregivers, and team members.
  5. Monitor progress and make necessary adjustments through data analysis.
  6. Collaborate with professionals involved in the child's care to optimize outcomes.
  7. Handle crisis situations calmly and efficiently using de-escalation techniques.
  8. Stay updated with the latest research and practices in behaviour support
  9. Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with NDIS requirements.
  10. Advocate for the rights and needs of children and teens with disabilities..

Criteria:
  • You must be registered as a Behaviour Support Practitioner and have approximately 2 years of experience delivering behaviour support plans.
  • Experience in providing behaviour support to children and teens with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of NDIS guidelines and requirements related to behaviour support.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
  • Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and empathy.
