About the role:
As a Practice Nurse, you will provide high-quality nursing care by conducting comprehensive health assessments, supporting infection control, and delivering health promotion and preventative care. Your role involves close collaboration with Medical Practitioners and a multidisciplinary team to coordinate patient care, administer immunisations, manage clinical procedures, and provide therapeutic interventions tailored to community needs. You will also facilitate culturally appropriate health plans, outreach services, and training for Aboriginal Health Workers, ensuring care delivery aligns with best practice standards and cultural safety.

You will take a leadership role in promoting primary health care principles within the practice, maintain accurate patient records using clinical software, and participate in continuous quality improvement programs. A key part of your position includes triage and emergency management, diagnostic testing, and building strong community relationships that support client self-determination and health outcomes.

Requirements:
  • Registered Nurse with demonstrated experience in Aboriginal Primary Health Care and remote clinical settings
  • Proven ability in clinical and emergency nursing practice, including immunisation and COVID-19 care
  • Strong cultural competency and understanding of cultural safety in health service delivery
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and to engage positively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients
  • Knowledge of rural and remote health challenges along with strategies for managing occupational stress
  • Current National Police Clearance
Nice to have:
  • Current "C" class Driver’s License
  • Familiarity with relevant legislative Acts impacting healthcare organisations
  • Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent highly regarded
  • Fully COVID-19 vaccinated
