The Role

The Paediatric Therapy Team Leader will oversee and coordinate the activities of a multidisciplinary team, ensuring high-quality client care and the achievement of therapy goals. This role includes managing a paediatric caseload, conducting assessments, developing and implementing individualised intervention plans, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals, parents, and teachers. In addition to clinical duties, the role involves leading, mentoring, and supervising a team of therapists and therapy assistants, conducting team meetings, managing team schedules, and ensuring compliance with quality assurance standards. The Team Leader will also assist in the recruitment, onboarding, and training of new team members, manage resources, and handle administrative duties.

Essential Criteria

  • Education: Bachelor or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy or Speech Pathology.
  • Registration: Unrestricted AHPRA registration for Occupational Therapists or membership with Speech Pathology Australia (SPA).
  • Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of clinical experience in paediatric therapy service delivery is required. Leadership experience is beneficial but not essential. However, candidates should demonstrate a strong determination to learn and lead a team, with higher salary consideration for those with leadership experience.
Skills:
  • Strong organisational skills to manage both a clinical caseload and a paediatric team.
  • Self-driven, with a desire to take ownership of and grow the paediatric team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including conflict management.
  • A passion for paediatric therapy and for developing leadership and clinical skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and discipline-specific expertise as an Occupational Therapist or Speech Pathologist.
