The Role:

As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a crucial role in supporting individuals with disabilities to live their best lives. Your responsibilities will include assessing and prescribing assistive technology and home modifications, conducting functional capacity assessments, and working with a diverse range of clients, both children and adults. You will engage with the latest advancements in assistive technology and collaborate with a dedicated team to deliver high-quality, person-centred care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and prescribe assistive technology and home modifications to facilitate independence, safety, and well-being.
  • Conduct functional capacity assessments.
  • Perform home assessments, school-based work, and onsite appointments at the Experience Centre.
  • Consult with and advise customers, carers, health professionals, stakeholders, and service providers on assistive technology, equipment, and home modifications.
  • Prepare professional reports and equipment funding applications, ensuring clinical reasoning and adherence to relevant standards.
  • Research and review assistive technology, liaising with suppliers, trialling equipment, and exploring evidence-based best practices.
  • Provide education and training on assistive technology to external stakeholders as required.
  • Contribute to service development, innovation, and clinical best practice.

Essential Criteria:

  • A passion for providing person-centred support.
  • Strong interest and willingness to develop skills in assistive technology assessment and prescription.
  • Knowledge of and readiness to up-skill in home modification assessment.
  • Experience or knowledge of the NDIS sector, with advanced interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in ICT, including use of databases and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with individuals, caregivers, health professionals, and other staff to achieve positive client outcomes.
  • Current registration with AHPRA.
  • Experience working with people with disabilities and/or experience with assistive technologies.
