The participation of the people who use the service, including families and carers, is encouraged in all aspects of service planning and delivery. They work in partnership with a range of government and non-government service providers to ensure the best possible outcomes for clients. They deliver services at a number of locations, including hospital inpatient and outpatient settings, community health centres, detention centres, other community settings including people’s home. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team who work across hospital, community mental health, CAMHS, Rehabilitation and justice services.

About The Opportunity:

They work in partnership with a range of government and non-government service providers to ensure the best possible outcomes for clients. They deliver services at a number of locations, including hospital inpatient and outpatient settings, community health centres, detention centres, other community settings including people’s home. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team who work across hospital, community mental health, CAMHS, Rehabilitation and justice services.
Responsibilities:
- Work Flexibly and effectively as part of the allied health team, providing support to all members of the allied health team and the wider multi-disciplinary team within scope of practice and training of the individual.
- Participate and help facilitate the therapeutic group programs for people with complex and serious mental heal issues in an extended care environment.
- Exercise independent judgement on routine matters and under decreasing professional supervision when performing novel, complex or critical tasks.
- Provide therapeutically beneficial assistance to people receiving care within the units, including assisting with transport/transfers to other services or units, assisting with the ongoing maintenance of allied health equipment, and assisting to supply appropriate equipment and referrals, under the direction of the supervising allied health professional, and within the scope of practice and training of the individual.
- Coordinate assistance regarding access to relevant services and supports and support the discharge planning process.
- Demonstrate communication skills to liaise effectively with other health professionals, consumers, families/carers, colleagues and other service providers, including an ability to promptly complete clinical documentation meeting data collection requirements,
- Participate in the implementation of clinical governance activity, quality improvement projects, research programs, and health promotion in areas relevant to the service.
- Participate in clinical supervision, continuing professional development, and performance appraisal and development.
- Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.
- Certificate IV in Mental Health or Allied Health Assistance (or equivalent qualification)
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a related/ relevant organisation and/or service.
- Current drivers’ licence.
- Registration under the ACT Working with Vulnerable People Act 2011.
Desirable:
- Previous experience working within an inpatient mental health environment.
- Understanding of how the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) indicators align with this role is desirable but not mandatory.
