The role:
As a Speech Pathologist, you will provide comprehensive speech therapy services to children and adults with diverse needs within their home and community settings. This role demands a high level of professional judgment and expertise to assess communication and mealtime management capabilities using a variety of assessment tools. You will create holistic, outcome-driven intervention plans and guide clients and families through their implementation. Advising on specialized equipment and techniques for communication support is also a key part of your duties.
In this position, you will collaborate with various stakeholders, including community organizations and healthcare professionals, to ensure a client-focused, best-practice approach. Maintaining strong, positive relationships with clients, families, and team members is essential. Your responsibilities also include accurate documentation of client files and producing reports for other health professionals. You will manage your caseload effectively, balancing client needs with administrative tasks such as maintaining financial records.
Success in this role requires autonomy, effective time management, and comfort working in a technology-supported environment. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to an integrated service approach alongside occupational therapists, psychologists, and other professionals. Upholding high standards of service delivery, meeting performance targets, and fostering a culture of empathy and empowerment are integral to your contributions.
Essential Criteria
  • Minimum Bachelor degree in Speech Pathology
  • Registration with SPA
  • Experience working with paediatric clients (0-11 years)
  • Current Police Check, NDIS Workers Screening Check and Working with Children Check
  • Driving License
