The role:

As a Speech Pathologist for our client, you will play a vital role in providing collaborative and quality speech pathology services to a diverse range of clients across both community and clinic-based settings. Your primary responsibility will be to assess and intervene with paediatric and adult clients who experience difficulties in speech, language, fluency, voice, literacy, social skills, Autism Spectrum Disorder, attention, other disabilities, and swallowing. You will diagnose, treat, and prevent speech, language, and swallowing disorders while maintaining detailed client records and managing your clinical caseload independently.

In this role, you will uphold the standards of practice and competencies as outlined by Speech Pathology Australia and our client’s policies and guidelines. Educating patients and their families about speech disorders, their causes, and the impact of disabilities or traumatic events is a crucial part of your job. You will also be responsible for reporting progress and current status to relevant parties, which may include family members, teachers, or medical professionals. Additionally, you will communicate the company’s NDIS policies and processes to all employees and address any risks and responsibilities associated with the NDIS system.

You will also have the opportunity to educate other personnel, including support workers and carers, on how to support clients with complex health needs and perform intricate healthcare procedures. Ensuring your own health and safety, as well as that of others, is paramount, which includes reporting any incidents or hazards to the relevant manager or supervisor. Staying informed about the NDIS system and applying its principles to your daily work is essential for this position. Furthermore, you must ensure that you are not under the influence of alcohol or drugs that could endanger anyone’s health and safety.

This position requires you to provide high-quality, evidence-based services while working closely with a multi-disciplinary team. Your role will involve diagnosing, treating, and preventing speech and language disorders, educating clients and their families, and maintaining thorough documentation. With your commitment to ongoing clinical development, you will support clients in achieving their communication goals and improving their quality of life.
