The role:

The position of Social Worker will be integrated within a compact, multi-disciplinary team dedicated to assisting participants of the clients Criminal Law Practice by providing culturally appropriate case management, support, and referrals. The Women’s Bail Advocacy Program strives to ensure that Indigenous women are not deprived of bail for preventable reasons, such as lacking a secure accommodation. Collaborate with solicitors to address client needs, whether in custody or the community. Refer clients to obtain housing, treatment, and community services, and develop bail support plans with the Women’s BAP team. Advocate for clients, contribute to service model development, and maintain data while adhering to clients policies.


Criteria:
  • Identify and be recognised in the community as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person 
  • Proficient understanding and respect for the cultural and social needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, coupled with a commitment to uphold and integrate Indigenous cultural practices in service delivery and support for clients, families, communities, and staff. Demonstrated experience in social work, case management or related field 
  • Demonstrated experience working in a multidisciplinary team  
  • Demonstrated experience working with clients who are vulnerable and have complex needs. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain boundaries 
  • Highly developed organisational skills and a capacity for independent work.
  • Track record of leading stakeholder engagement and cultivating relationships across diverse sectors, underscored by political acumen.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication aptitude.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
