The Role:
Our client is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join a multi-disciplinary team in Western Sydney on a permanent basis. In this role, you will have the opportunity to support children and young people across diverse settings including homes, early childhood settings, schools, and communities.
Duties include:
- Collaborating with children, young people, and their families to set goals, develop strategies, and support their implementation.
- Empowering clients and families to foster independence in areas such as self-care, sensory processing, play and motor skills, emotional regulation, and inclusion in activities and settings of choice.
- Developing expertise in specialized areas such as Assistive Technology and Home Modifications, Sensory Processing, and Emotional Regulation.
- Managing a diverse caseload alongside a team of seasoned allied health professionals and behavior support practitioners including speech pathologists, physiotherapists, and behavior clinicians.
- Providing family support through a keyworker model of practice and parent coaching.
- Utilizing telehealth platforms to engage with families for assessment and intervention.
- Facilitating group programs including workshops on Toilet Training, Transition to School and High School, and other interest-based groups.
- Supervising junior clinicians and students, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
Essential Criteria:
- Minimum 1-2 years' experience
- A valid Working with Children’s Check (WWCC) Clearance.
- A valid NDIS Worker Screening Check (NDISWC) Clearance.
- Fully vaccinated for the Covid-19 Virus or accepted medical exemption certificate.
- Successful pre-employment police check.
- Current driver’s licence and use of own car.
- Demonstrated understanding of augmentative communication practices
