The role:

Our client is a leading welfare organisation that focuses on working with complex individuals, systems and organisations across Australia. They work with children, young people and adults; people with a disability; people who have mental health support needs, people who have experienced trauma, their families, and the organisations and government departments that support them. They provide a range of customised services, including Clinical / Behaviour Support, Psychology Services, Clinical Supervision, Therapy, Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Cultural Consultancy, Training and Organisational Practice and Professional Development.

Within this position, you will work with children and adults with a disability .The OT work will see conduct functional and sensory assessments and ongoing therapy.

You will deliver high-quality, person-centred services, working with a range of clients across a range of care needs from short-term involvement, to complex, long-term needs. This will involve, but is not limited to:

  • Providing a range of assessments and reports, e.g. Sensory Profile, Functional Assessments, Cognitive Functional Assessments, Multi-disciplinary Assessments (FASD, Motor Skills Assessment, Housing and Support Needs Assessments);
  • Identifying Occupational Therapy goals with the person and / or their family or carers;
  • Developing Occupational Therapy intervention plans;
  • Providing Occupational Therapy support in a variety of settings incl. in the home, the community, in schools, the clinic or via telehealth (were appropriate);
  • Developing individual resources for the person and identifying useful strategies;
  • Providing training for parents, carers and / or support workers;
  • Attending Care Team Meetings and providing Occupational Therapy specific input.

The position is suitable for experienced practitioners as well as recent graduates as our client aims to tailor a caseload, supervision and training to their practitioners’ specific needs.
 

Essential Criteria:

  • A degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent and registration (or eligibility to register) with AHPRA.
  • Experience or interest in working with people with intellectual disabilities and/or experiences of trauma who have complex needs.
  • Experience or interest in comprehensive assessments of individuals functional needs; sensory assessment and profiling; and holistic lifestyle assessment and associated goal setting.
  • Experience or interest in administration and interpretation of a variety of assessment tools.
  • A current Driver’s Licence
  • Hold a current Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening, or the ability to attain these checks
  • Willing to adhere to the Government requirements regarding vaccinations for workers in certain sectors.
