Our client is offering a unique opportunity to lead and establish a critical service aimed at supporting Aboriginal children, families, and carers in the Inverell region and surrounding districts. This full-time, ongoing position comes with a competitive salary of up to $115,000 - $120,000 + Super (Negotiated based on skills and qualifications), as well as opportunities for professional development within a culturally supportive environment.

The Role
The Manager of the Children’s Services will play a key role in establishing and leading a multidisciplinary team focused on delivering Out of Home Care (OoHC) services, family preservation, kinship, and foster care. The manager will be responsible for creating a nurturing environment for children and young people, ensuring compliance with NSW OoHC standards, and building strong relationships with both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal agencies. This role requires leadership in service development, staff training, and operational management to achieve the strategic objectives of the OOHC Children’s Services. Regular travel may be required.

Essential Criteria
  • Aboriginality: This is a targeted position with preference given to candidates of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent.
  • Tertiary Qualifications: Required in Psychology, Social Work, or a related discipline.
  • Leadership Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a leadership role, with demonstrated skills in team building and service planning within a multidisciplinary community service model.
  • Cultural Competence: Comprehensive understanding of Aboriginal communities, societies, and cultures, particularly in regional NSW.
  • Legislative Knowledge: In-depth understanding of legislative requirements for the care and protection of children within the OoHC system.
  • Communication Skills: High-level written and verbal communication, consultation, and negotiation skills, with proficiency in computer software applications.
  • Experience with Foster Care: Deep understanding of the challenges faced by children, young people, and carers in foster care.
  • Accreditation Standards: Demonstrated experience in maintaining and monitoring accreditation standards.
  • Clearances: Current Working with Children’s Check (WWCC), National Police Check, and a valid driver’s license with the willingness to travel as required.
