The Role
The Director of Strategy and Sustainability will support the Executive and Senior Management Teams in delivering the organization’s strategic priorities. The role will proactively build a culture of strategy and innovation through the strategic leadership of advocacy, communications, business development, and project management functions. Key responsibilities include:

 
  • Leading and managing the Strategy and Sustainability team to meet business needs and support future growth.
  • Developing, implementing, and monitoring the organization’s Strategic Plan.
  • Providing strategic advice to the CEO and senior management on critical issues.
  • Ensuring timely implementation of strategic initiatives and promoting a culture of innovation.
  • Conducting sector competitor analysis and managing strategic and operational risks.
  • Establishing and reviewing advocacy priorities and promoting awareness of relevant trends.
  • Formulating policy options and developing strategies for long-term systemic change.
  • Conducting research to identify key social trends and critical issues.
  • Representing the organization in external committees and forums.
  • Increasing brand awareness and advising on risks and opportunities.
  • Protecting the integrity of the organization’s brand and developing effective stakeholder relationships.
  • Overseeing responses to major tenders and grant opportunities to secure funding.
 
Essential Criteria
  • Tertiary and postgraduate qualifications in social sciences, public policy, management, or equivalent experience.
  • At least ten years’ experience in managing a multi-disciplinary team in community services.
  • A well-developed understanding of a broad range of community services.
  • Proven leadership in strategy development, change management, and program improvement.
  • Experience in preparing tenders and engaging with funders and policymakers.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Advanced mentoring, coaching, and supervision skills.
  • Well-developed negotiation skills and the ability to build strong relationships.
  • High-level written and verbal communication skills, including public presentation abilities.
  • Advanced strategy development and financial management skills.
  • Understanding of issues impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Ability to communicate sensitively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Northern Territory Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card).
  • Northern Territory Driver’s Licence.
