The Role:
Join a leading Newcastle based practice and make a meaningful difference in the lives of families with children facing disabilities and additional personal needs. As a Behavioural Support Practitioner, you will work closely with adolescents and young adults and you will be instrumental in implementing personalized behaviour support plans to improve the well-being and quality of life for these children and teens. Your role will not only positively impact families but also contribute to creating a more inclusive and supportive community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments to understand challenging behaviours.
- Develop individualized behaviour support plans aligned with NDIS guidelines.
- Provide direct intervention and support using positive behaviour strategies.
- Offer guidance and training to families, caregivers, and team members.
- Monitor progress and make necessary adjustments through data analysis.
- Collaborate with professionals involved in the child's care to optimize outcomes.
- Handle crisis situations calmly and efficiently using de-escalation techniques.
- Stay updated with the latest research and practices in behaviour support
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with NDIS requirements.
- Advocate for the rights and needs of children and teens with disabilities..
Criteria:
- You must be registered as a Behaviour Support Practitioner and have approximately 2 years of experience delivering behaviour support plans.
- Experience in providing behaviour support to children and teens with disabilities.
- Knowledge of NDIS guidelines and requirements related to behaviour support.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
- Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and empathy.
